Our amazing guest for Episode 78 is Jeanae Hopgood-Jones who has taken a tragic and powerful experience as a mother and found a space of creativity and inspiration.

Her blog  https://blackangelmom.com/  is not only beautiful and sincere, it addresses areas of parenthood and life that are all too often relegated to the purely personal and not given or allowed a voice by the larger culture.  The loss of her twin daughters and reaching towards families of color and their experiences of loss are the seeds of this endeavor.

I was so touched to hear Jeanae’s story and the work she does.  We are all honored to be invited to listen and learn.  She offers us not only her personal story, which I consider more than enough, but practical material to consider in our attempts to open, grow and receive the gifts of existence and love.

About Jeanae Hopgood

In her own words: I am a wife, a mother, a daughter, a black feminist and a student of life. My work focuses on the empowerment of women, the validation of life and experience, healing from broken places and valuing of our humanity.  My training is in marriage & family therapy, couple & sex therapy, LGBQ+ & T/GV affirmation and human sexuality education. I carry two master’s degrees in these areas and am currently writing my dissertation for the Ph.D. that has consumed the last 4 years of my life. I am passionate about helping people become the best versions of themselves in the profound way they can. I am mother to two angel-baby twin daughters, Aviva Monroe & Jora Nirali who have pushed me to be a better version of myself in their short time here and one living son lovingly called Goshi. ~Jeanae H-J~
