What Makes A Good Postpartum Soup?
A good postpartum soup does not need to be fancy. It should be warm, filling, easy to reheat, and forgiving if someone else is making it for you. Broth, lentils, beans, vegetables, rice, meat, eggs, olive oil, coconut milk, or simple toppings can all help turn a bowl of soup into an actual meal.
Use these recipes loosely. Add what you have, leave out what does not work for your household, and keep toppings separate when you are bringing food to someone else.

Make Postpartum Meals Easier
Most of these soups and stews can be made in a large batch and eaten throughout the week as lunches, snacks, or dinners. Some freeze beautifully. It is a very particular joy to open the freezer on a hard day and find a container of something homemade.
Label everything with the recipe name and date. We use these restaurant containers, frog tape, and a permanent marker.
