Perfect Parenting and Other Myths to Replace With Self-Trust
Fourth Trimester Podcast Episode 168: Perfect Parenting and Other Myths to Replace With Self-Trust
Many of us enter parenthood believing we can prepare enough, plan enough, or perfect our way through uncertainty. But becoming a parent often asks something very different of us.
Learn why the idea of perfect parenting can make the transition into parenthood even harder and how self-trust, storytelling, and emotional flexibility can help parents navigate the identity shifts that come after having a baby. Britta Bushnell, PhD, shares how myths around control, certainty, and perfection shape the postpartum experience, why parenting is a true rite of passage, and how developing a kinder inner voice can help families move through the fourth trimester with more resilience and confidence.
